Qwen Image prompts for food packaging with Chinese and English text

On a snack pack the words carry the sale: brand, product name, flavor and net weight, often in two languages on the same face. When that copy mixes Chinese and English, Qwen Image is the model to try first, because it sets large Chinese characters and English lines on a pack more reliably than most image models. We tested five prompts for an invented rice-cracker brand, 潮咔 TIDEBITE: front of pack, a store shelf, an opened bag with crisps spilling out, a desk scene and a three-flavor lineup.

The plan was to edit the front-of-pack image into each scene. Neither edit endpoint we tried worked that day, so all five published images are text-to-image, with the same written pack description pasted into every scene prompt. That turned into a useful test of its own: the wording held in every image, while the illustration, the badge position and the crisp shape drifted from shot to shot. Outputs are unedited, including a ® Qwen added on its own.

Tested 2026-10-19 via Novita AI API (qwen-image text-to-image), the provider and model Blurbly uses for Qwen Image. 潮咔 TIDEBITE is an invented brand. Images are shown as generated, ® included, with web compression only.

  • Listing the copy top to bottom produced the same order on the pack: brand, illustration, Chinese name, English name, badge, net weight.
  • Every requested string is spelled correctly in both languages, including the mixed line "净含量 70克 · Net Wt. 70 g".
  • "Clean commercial packaging design, crisp print" keeps the type sharp enough to read at thumbnail size.

Swap for your product

  • Replace each quoted line with your real copy and keep the top-to-bottom order of the actual pack.
  • Change the pouch color and finish; name the color as a designer would ("deep teal", "brick red", "plum").
  • For a box or tin, replace "stand-up pouch … zip top" with the format and add "front panel facing the camera".

Why it works

  • "All three share one layout" followed by a short per-pouch list gave a consistent range with only color, name and illustration changing.
  • Tying each illustration to its flavor (seaweed, dried red chillies, a wedge of cheese) fixed the first attempt, which put cheese on the spicy pack.
  • "Each pouch carries only these words" kept all three Chinese names and English lines correct.

Swap for your product

  • List your flavors in shelf order with one color each, and keep every pack to the same number of text lines.
  • For four or more flavors use 16:9 and "evenly spaced in one row"; Qwen kept three neatly apart.
  • Leave flavor badges off packs this small. The first attempt's badge text came out unreadable.

What went wrong in testing

Qwen Image added a ® after the brand name on every pack, though none was asked for. Trying to remove it made things worse: "No ® or ™ symbols" produced a second ®, and "those are the only words on the pack" put ® after both names and dropped "Sea Salt" from the badge.
We published the first attempt, which has one ®. In most countries ® may only be used for a registered trademark, so retouch it out if your mark is not registered. Mentioning the symbol in the prompt seems to encourage it.
We planned to make the scenes as edits of the front-of-pack image. Novita's qwen-image-edit endpoint returned "404 route not found", and Qwen Image Edit Max on MuleRouter failed with error 3005 on three tries, with both WebP and JPEG inputs.
We switched to text-to-image with the identical pack description pasted into each prompt. The text stayed right in every published image, but the illustration, badge position and crisp shape changed from shot to shot. For an exact match to your real pack, use a model with working reference edits, or photograph the pack.
The shelf took three text-to-image attempts. "A blank white price strip" gave a price tag full of filler characters. "No price tags or labels" still gave tags, and the hero pack's small print went wrong. The close-up framing still drew tags, but blurred.
Frame tighter so the shelf edge is out of view, and let background packs blur. Qwen writes filler text into any label it thinks belongs in a scene.
A multipack carton failed twice and is not on this page. The first dropped a character from the brand ("潮 TIDEBITE"); the second printed "6袋装 · 4 Packs", so the Chinese and English disagree on the count.
Check every digit on generated packaging. A wrong quantity or weight is a compliance problem, not a style problem. Keep numbers to one language per line if you can.
The first lineup attempt gave the red pouch an unreadable flavor badge and put a cheese wedge on the spicy pack.
We removed the badges and named one illustration per flavor. The second attempt was correct.
The desk prompt asked for the pouch "open at the top"; the output shows it sealed, with the hand holding a crisp above it.
The image still works for an ad, but if the pack must be open, describe how ("zip open, top edge folded back") and check before using it.

Frequently asked questions

Can Qwen Image write Chinese and English on the same package?

Yes, and it is the reason to use it for this category. In the five images we published, every large Chinese line and every English line came out right. Small text was less reliable: price tags, badges on small packs and fine print turned into filler. It also added a ® mark we never asked for.

Can Qwen Image keep my real package design across images?

Not from text alone. Without a reference image, repeating the same pack description kept the wording right but let the layout and illustration drift between shots. For exact consistency, use your pack photo as a reference with a model that supports it, or photograph the pack and generate only the background.

What sizes did you use?

Qwen Image on Novita takes width and height directly. We used 1152×1536 (3:4) for single packs and 1536×1152 (4:3) for the lineup.

Can I use AI packaging images before the pack is printed?

They work as concept and pre-launch mockups, but label them as such. Net weight, ingredients and any legal text must come from your real artwork, and the image must match what the customer receives once it ships.

Why is there a ® on my generated pack?

Qwen Image seems to treat a brand name on a pack as a trademark and adds the symbol, even when told not to. Remove it in editing unless the mark is registered.
