Listing video or Sponsored Brands video
Amazon runs two kinds of product video, and they don’t share a spec. The listing video sits on your detail page. Amazon’s Seller Central shoppable video guide lists MOV or MP4, up to 1080p, up to 5 GB, horizontal 16:9 or vertical 9:16, and an account active for more than three months. Its Sell on Amazon blog adds up to four videos per ASIN and a Professional selling account. The Sponsored Brands video is an ad, and its spec page is stricter: 16:9 only, 6 to 45 seconds with 20 or less highly recommended, 500 MB or less, H.264 or H.265, and it always starts muted.
If you don’t run Sponsored Brands, make the listing video and stop there. If you do, shoot for 16:9. It is the only shape both placements accept, while a vertical clip would need bars to fit the ad slot. Length is where they part. The Seller Central guide gives listing videos 1 to 12 minutes, the ad caps out at 45 seconds, and the Sell on Amazon blog muddies it by calling 30 to 90 seconds typical for listing videos, a range that only partly overlaps the guide’s. We haven’t tested what the upload screen enforces, so plan a short ad cut and a longer listing cut from the same shots, and check the upload screen before you rely on one file for both.
