Amazon, Walmart, Etsy, Shopify, TikTok Shop and eBay each publish their own image rules. Here they are side by side, every number taken from the platform’s own help pages — and marked when a platform does not say.

Frequently asked questions
Which marketplaces require a white background?
Of the platforms here, Amazon, Walmart and TikTok Shop publish a pure white rule for the main image. Etsy, Shopify and eBay’s pages we read set no background colour.
Can one image work on every marketplace?
A square image of at least 2200 px on pure white, saved as JPEG under 5 MB, with no added text or logos, meets the published size, background and file-type rules of every platform on this page — though Etsy notes files over 1 MB may not finish uploading. Check each platform for category rules.
