What fits in a few silent seconds
Etsy’s help article sets tight limits: 3 to 15 seconds, and no audio once the video is on your listing. That rules out most of what people picture as a product video. There is no voiceover to explain the material, no music to set a mood and no time for a scene-setting opening. What’s left is one movement that shows something the photos can’t.
For most handmade pieces that movement is one of three. Light travelling across a surface, which shows glaze, grain, metal or knit better than any still. The piece next to a hand or an everyday object, which answers “how big is it?” faster than the dimensions in the description. Or the piece doing its small job: a clasp closing, a wick catching, a bag opening. Pick one per clip. Five to ten seconds is plenty for a single movement.
