Why a showroom photo undersells a sofa
People rarely buy a sofa because of how it looks under a showroom spotlight between two other sofas. They buy it because they can picture it in their own living room, with their own lamp and a Saturday evening around it. A product photo cannot do that picturing for them. Short video can, and that is the main reason for a home store to make one.
The sofa example starts from the kind of photo most stores already have: a sage velvet three-seater on the showroom floor with cushions and a side table. The video moves it into an empty sunlit room, furnishes the room around it, closes in on the velvet and ends at dusk with the lamps on. The sofa is the one fixed thing. Everything around it is there so the viewer can see it in a home.
