What a hanger photo tells a buyer, and what it leaves out
A dress on a hanger tells a customer the colour, the fabric and roughly the shape. It does not tell them how the skirt moves when you walk, how satin catches evening light or what the piece looks like on a person. Big brands shoot every arrival on a model for that reason. Small boutiques, who cannot, post flat photos that are easy to scroll past.
A generated model fills part of that gap. The satin dress example shows the fabric moving on a street and a rooftop, and its macro shot shows the sheen. What it cannot show is fit. The model’s body, the length on that body and how the fabric stretches are all generated. They are a styling illustration of the piece, not a measurement of it, and the customer ordering in her own size needs something more reliable than that.
